The Fifth International Conference for Legal Entrepreneurs

The Fifth International Conference for Legal Entrepreneurs

The Introduction

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, developed by the United Nations and adopted by all member states on September 25, 2015, aims to stimulate development, human progress, and environmental protection. It calls for adherence to 17 goals and 169 targets, and addresses a range of critical issues, including eradicating poverty and hunger, protecting the environment, upholding human rights, promoting health, and fostering sustainable development. In accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 70/1, which affirms the commitment to implementing the Agenda for Sustainable Development in a manner consistent with states’ rights and obligations under international law, and in its commitment to supporting the policies and visions of Arab states and organizations in implementing this plan; The idea for dedicating the Fifth International Conference for Legal Entrepreneurs to addressing the visions of Arab states and organizations regarding the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) arose after highlighting the importance of governance between administration and law at the First Arab Forum on Administration and Law, held in Cairo on Thursday, September 30, 2021, under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Adel bin Abdulrahman Al-Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament. This forum also led to the Arab Parliament’s recommendation to form an Arab parliamentary committee to develop models for Arab legislation that support governance, which is, in fact, a mechanism for achieving the SDGs. In line with the visions of Arab states and organizations, our Fifth International Conference will highlight the strategies and achievements of Arab states and organizations in achieving the SDGs five years after the plan’s adoption, representing 30% of the target timeframe. We will also address the latest legislative developments in the areas of economic development, digital transformation, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), reform of dispute resolution mechanisms (mediation and arbitration), and support for public-private partnerships. Key issues include eradicating poverty and hunger, protecting the environment, upholding human rights, promoting health, and fostering sustainable development.
